AVERY HALL REID HALL

During the first semester, students live and study in New York and enjoy the resources of Columbia University and the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. As part of Columbia University, the school offers access to athletic, computer, and other student facilities; public lectures; extracurricular activities; the Center for Preservation Research; the Buell Center for the study of American Architecture; Avery Library, the nation's leading architecture and planning research collection.
The second term is now spent in a new location in Paris, at Reid Hall, Columbia University's center for French cultural studies in the center of the Montparnasse district. Reid Hall, owned and administered by Columbia University, is located on the Rue de Chevreuse near the Luxembourg Gardens. The original building was constructed in the early 18th century; modern additions have enlarged the facility creating an interior courtyard and private garden. Reid Hall has a 4,000-volume library, classrooms, a reading room, lounges and administrative offices. The building is open every day and available for student use until midnight. Outside the classroom, Reid Hall offers an extensive network of activities including visits to historical and cultural sites in Paris and surrounding areas, to help students bridge the gap between American and French cultures, and to ensure that their experience in Paris is both well-rounded and fulfilling.
