US Army map of Kapaun Kaserne (Barracks). I lived and worked in Kapaun Barracks, which is the rectangle outlined in blue on the map. The rectangle itself was a chain-link fence with a hole we could squeeze through to walk the half mile to Hohenecken, circled in green. The map is from the US Military Installation Atlas, 37th Trans Gp, 1980, via Walter Elkins' US Army in Germany website and shows the area in the late 1970s, little changed from the mid-1960s.
