The view from the Gasthaus up the hill to "Barbarossa's castle" (that's what
people called it). When I lived near here in the early 1960s, the Gasthaus
was an old building, rather small. When I returned in 1975 it had been torn
down and replaced a modern, airy, and much larger version, complete with
parking lot in back, but still completely simple and unpretentious. Die Oma
still did all the cooking herself, as well as taking the orders and serving
and mingling with the guests. I find by checking in Google that there is a
very fancy upscale establishment there now, Gasthof zum Rathaus (which
might even be the same name), but it doesn't look at all familiar.
