Kinga Makovi
Welcome

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University (2010 cohort), where I am a member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics (INCITE), lead by Peter Bearman. My interests include social networks, quantitative methods and simulation techniques applied to puzzles in the social sciences. I find joy in exploring spatially and temporally sensitive data structures that enable causal claims to be made, especially in historical sociology. My dissertation project funded by the NSF DDIG examines the movement for the abolition of the slave trade in the late 1700s, early 1800s England. I hold an MS in mathematical economics from Corvinus University of Budapest (2010).
