About this Web Page
SPR 1999 in Granada
The page web_teaching.html was originally designed for presentation at a workshop at the 39th Annual Meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research. The SPR meeting, hosted by the University of Granada, was held from the 6th to the 10th of October 1999 at the "Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos" in Granada, Spain. Ottmar Lipp and I presented the workshop, "Internet resources for Teaching Psychophysiology," in the Hall Manuel de Falla on Friday, Oct. 8 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. under the sponsorship of the Education and Training Committee of SPR.
A Presentation Device
Because web_teaching.html was originally designed as a presentation device, it is structured to simulate a slide presentation, with arrows and links serving as navigational tools between "slides." This worked reasonably well during the workshop, with monitor resolution set at 800 x 600 and with navigation under my control. I am leaving the page in this format to illustrate one way to use the web both as a presentation device and as lecture support. Students (and workshop participants) may freely navigate such web pages after a lecture and review at their leisure the links that were presented in class. Because of the absence of textual support, however, the page may not be comprehensible to individuals who were not present at the workshop.
Use of Local Links for Presentation
In the version of the web page used in Granada, all links were to web sites that I had previously downloaded and saved as local files. Such use of offline copies of web pages is highly recommended for presentations of web material, as it removes two sources of potential difficulty--the live internet connection and loading delays. In the current page, the links to offline web pages have now been replaced by live links to the original web sites.
Purpose of the Current Page
In posting this page on the web, we hope that it will serve two purposes:
Feedback
I am happy to receive your questions, suggestions, and comments regarding these pages. As I must first attend to my own teaching and administrative responsibilities, however, I will not always be able to respond immediately.
