February 24[, 1913]1 : Recital2 by Mrs. Deutsch.3 In the evening, with her, Mr. Otto Erich Deutsch,4 and Lie-Liechen5 for the evening meal. Lie-Liechen slightly unwell from not eating.

2 Vortrag: can also mean “lecture,” “recitation.”

3 Mrs. Sofie Deutsch, a pupil of S’s for more than fifteen years, and a benefactress of his work. She died on January 5, 1917, leaving him a legacy, a pension, and funds for stipends to composers in his hands.

4 Otto Erich Deutsch [create biogfile and link]. This may be the first occasion on which S and he met.

5 Lie-Liechen: i.e. Schenker’s wife to be, Jeanette Kornfeld.

SUMMARY:
