Dear Frau Professor,

I am pleased to be able to send you, enclosed, the newspaper clipping with the words of remembrance by Prof. Violin.1

The publisher’s number of the Short and {verso} Easy Keyboard Pieces by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (elucidatory edition by Otto Vrieslander) is 5395.2

Mrs. Rothberger3 will have already told you today about the very beautiful cantata performance under Bamberger’s direction.4 I couldn’t help thinking all the time of the dear professor and the joy that he would have had over it!

Many thanks once again for all the beautiful things that you showed me yesterday and sincere greetings from

Your

1 Click on Moriz Violin. “Zur Erinnerung an Heinrich Schenker,” newspaper unknown: the clipping survives in OJ 70/54, along with a typescript original and carbon, the latter extensively corrected by Jeanette, on which the published article is apparently based.

2 Kurze und leichte / Clavierstücke / mit veränderten Reprisen und beigefügter / Fingersetzung für Anfänger von / Carl Philipp Emanuel / Bach / [Berlin: Winter, 1766, 1768] / Neue kritische Ausgabe mit erläuterndem Nachwort / von / Otto Vrieslander // Front cover: Carl Philipp Emanuel / Bach / Kurze und leichte / Clavierstücke / Erläuterungsausgabe von / Otto Vrieslander / Piano Solo // First page of music carries: Copyright 1914 by Universal Edition.

3 Presumably Hilda Rothberger, who corresponded with Heinrich and Jeanette 1933-1938 (OJ 13/31). (A bronze portrait medallion showing HS's head, left view, inscribed with the names "Heinrich Schenker" and "Alfred Rothberger", dating c.1930, survives as OJ 72/14, item 18.)

4 Click on Carl Bamberger.

SUMMARY:
Encloses clipping of Violin's obituary for HS; gives publication details of Vrieslander's C. P. E. Bach elucidatory edition; remarks on memorial concert.
