Sehr geehrter Herr !

Hiermit bestätigen wir dankend den Eingang des Betrages von M. 4300.30 durch das Bankhaus F.H. von Rothschild, Wien,³ womit wir unsre Notiz vom 10. dM.⁴ bestens beglichen haben. – Die von Ihnen aufgebenen Rezensionsexemplare haben wir am 23. dM. zur Versendung gebracht.

Dear Sir,

We herewith acknowledge with thanks the arrival of the amount of 4,300.30 Marks via the banking house of Freiherr von Rothschild, Vienna,³ with which we have fully discharged our notification of the 10th inst.⁴ We dispatched the review copies indicated by you on the 23th inst.

Payment is confirmed in a telegram (CA 57, November 23?) from Rothschild to Cotta, reading: “ sende ihnen mit heutiger post fuer rechnung dr heinrich schenker einen check ueber viertausenddreihundert mark 30 pfennig = rothschild“ (am sending you by today’s post to the account of dr heinrich schenker a check for four thousand three hundred marks 30 pfennigs = rothschild ).

⁴ CA 54–55, announcing the imminent publication of the book and informing S of their undertaking re: complimentary copies.
