Handwritten letter from Cotta to Schenker, dated October 8, 1906

[Cotta letterhead]
STUTTGART, 8. October 1906.

Herrn Dr. Heinrich Schenker,
Wien.

Sehr geehrter Herr !

Ihrem gefl. Briefe vom 6. d.

Dr. Heinrich Schenker,
Vienna

Dear Sir,

It is with great satisfaction that we learn from your letter of the 6th inst that you have now definitely decided on separating the main book from the Afterword and on independent publication of the latter, as per our letter of June of this year.2

We welcome this decision also specifically in the interests of our releasing the main work at the optimum time, which is now guaranteed for the end of this month, assuming you deliver on time the final corrections promised by you for the middle of this week. It would be very important for us under these circumstances to receive now, if possible by return, your { verso } description of the contents [of the book] and the manuscript of the title-page [that we] requested on September 24, so that we can then issue the announcement of the work to the book trade without delay.

With kind regards,
Yours truly,
[ sign’d: ] Heirs of J. G. Cotta’s Bookdealership
