Handwritten letter from Schenker to Jonas, dated September 23, 1932 September 23, 1932 Dear Dr. Jonas, I enclose a further group of addresses,1 perhaps still another list will occur to me. I heard from Dr. Salzer2 that he ordered thirty copies; that is really very nice. What is van Hoboken3 doing in that regard? It would please me greatly if he at least followed Salzer’s example, for, as I know him, he would also be quite capable of using this occasion {2} to reduce his monetary support to you and to content himself with one copy.4 How bitter I find it to think of him in this way, to say it openly—but let us hope that you will instead have a good experience; he likes you somehow, also has respect for you. If things have advanced to the point where your cousin5 can make a decision, I am at your disposal for advice, should you need or want any. I requested from Saturn-Verlag another twenty prospecta for my use. With best wishes and greetings from my wife and me, Yours, {3} [ as postscript: ] © Translation John Rothgeb 2006. |
