Geehrter, Lieber Herr Dr Jonas!

[ sign'd: ] H Schenker

Esteemed, dear Dr. Jonas! Above all, again: heartiest praise for your chapter on text and music! Thanks for kind letter and errata list.1 There are readers of such books whose participation is expressed exclusively in that they harp at the author about misprints — soon, very soon you too will get acquainted with them.2

We contemplate, if possible and feasible, remaining here until September. Engraving and printing have begun. I too lack any answer from Hoboken3 to letter and parcel of printed matter2

Mr. Roth4 lacks a secure instinct, he is therefore swayed by business considerations that are very transparent; sometimes he {recto} responds, sometimes he withdraws but then comes back. For example, in relation to me: the latest phase, he is again with me — he is very haughty, affected. Vrieslander,5 Furtwängler6 had aggravation with him.7

Best greetings from us both.
Yours,
[ sign’d: ] H. Schenker
