Vielleicht genügt es, wenn ich die Herren Setzer ein für allemal ersuchen lasse, die Zahl der Beispiele immer fortlaufend (u. zw. unter allen Umständen so bis ans Ende des Werkes) zu führen, ob ich selbst persönlich dagegen verstoße, oder nicht.

Darf ich um Kreuzbände bitten?

It may perhaps be enough for me to issue a once-for-all request to the type-setters that they always number the music examples consecutively (that is, under all circumstances, all the way through to the end of the book), whether or not I myself personally break this rule.

May I please ask for a supply of postal packets?
