Ich danke Ihnen verbindlichst für Ihre so liebenswürdige Wahrung meines Interesses u. gerne folge ich Ihrem mir im Schreiben von [ sic ] 2. 10.1 gegebenen Rate, von Ihren Argumenten ganz überzeugt. In diesem Sinne sende ich zugleich Bg. 25 u. behalte die letzten 3 Bogen2 bis etwa Mitte nächster Woche. Es wird somit der rechtzeitigen Ausgabe des Werkes nichts mehr im Wege stehen. Ich werde es so einrichten, daß bis Ende dieses Monats das Werk complet gedruckt vorliegen kann,– schon mit dem dazugehörigen Index, an dem ich eben arbeite. Was den für das Nachwort ursprünglich bestimmten Stoff anbelangt, so werde ich mir erlauben, ihn gemäß Ihrem w. Rathe im Schreiben vom 5. Juni 06, als besondere Schrift nachträglich ( u. zw. bis spätestens zur Ostermesse!) folgen zu lassen, u. eine darauf abzielende Bemerkung im Vorwort zu dem gegenwärtigen Buch anzubringen. Für einen Teil der Sachkundigen3 würde, wenn { verso } die kleinere Schrift nicht alsbald nachfolgen würde, die eigentliche, aktuelle Pointe4 fehlen, u. wie Sie richtig mir seinerzeit schrieben,5 dürfte der Nachtrag der geschäftlichen Wirkung zu[ corr ] Gute kommen. I am wholly convinced by your arguments and will gladly follow the advice that you give me in your letter of October 2.1 In this spirit, I am dispatching gathering 25 to you now, and am retaining the final three gatherings2 until roughly the middle of next week. With that, there is nothing to prevent the publication of my book on time. I will see to it that by the end of this month we can have the book printed in its entirety, complete with its Index, on which I am currently at work. As concerns the material originally destined for the Afterword, I will take the liberty, in accordance with the valuable advice in your letter of June 5, 1906, of sending it as a separate item later (but by the Easter book fair at the very latest!), and of inserting a comment to this effect in the Foreword of the present book. If the shorter publication { verso } were not to follow on promptly, the full force of the argument4 would be lost on some of the experts3; moreover, as you rightly wrote to me on a previous occasion,5 the supplementary work ought to have a beneficial commercial effect.
