Dear Director,

FOOTNOTES:

1 In response to OC/385, April 1, 1908, reminding him that the revisions for the 2nd edition of Ornamentik had been due on the Monday or Tuesday (April 1 being the Wednesday).

2 My thanks for Nicholas Marston for this idiomatic translation. The implication of the idiom is that if you are going to do a job, you may as well do it properly.

Nick Marston:

Dear Ian

'Wenn schon, . . . ': my dictionary suggests 'as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb', which is not impossible in this context.
