Chapter 4 recognized six
types of assessment
methods based on the modes in which the subjects or examinees respond.
During assessment
design or selection, we will have to choose from these six assessment
options. The six assessment methods are:
- Written,
structured response assessments (W-SR)
- Written,
open-ended assessments (W-OE);
- Behavior-based
assessments (BB);
- Product-based
assessments (PB);
- Interview-based
assessments (IB); and
- Portfolio-based
assessments (PA).
Relatively speaking, all but the W-SR type are subjectively-scored assessments, and need scoring rubrics. W-SR assessments are objectively-scored tools.
