| A Process Model for Designing, Selecting and Validating Assessment Tools |
|
The process model is iterative. Validation is a quality control process. The feedback loops in the figure illustrating the model show that we continue the design, validation, and revision cycle until we get the level of quality we want. Sound evaluative judgment plays an important part in our decision about quality. To keep the process manageable, we should continuously ask ourselves: Is the instrument a good match for the construct and population we originally specified ? Will the quality of the information from the tool be a good match for our assessment purposes? Affirmative responses to these questions would help us stop the work at an appropriate time. Page 4 |
