Designing or Selecting Performance Assessments in User Path 1

The selection of an performance assessment method poses some unique challenges to the designer and users in the areas of reliability and utility. We should therefore take deliberate steps to sensitize ourselves to the sources of error or practical barriers that we are likely to face, and design the assessment tools to address the anticipated problems. Assessment designers should also practice justifying assessment methods that they select during the assessment design or selection process, using validity, reliability and utility criteria. Chapter 8 attempted to elaborate on such issues with case studies and examples.
