Q. State Administrative Law
55. Following the federal model

The various states have agency structures very similar to the federal system. However, the publication of materials from the states is much more irregular. Each state tends to have an equivalent to the Federal Register, and most states have some sort of administrative codification. In both cases, the materials are not widely distributed, and contacting an agency directly for relevant information is often necessary. Many state agencies now have websites, and have thus much improved access to the rules they promulgate. The central website for New York is at http://www.state.ny.us/ , and a good central website to use to reach any of the states is the Stateline site run by the Pew Center. The creation of state oriented looseleafs can't be justified economically. However, both Lexis and Westlaw have been putting more and more of state administrative law materials and codes on-line.
