CNT as a positron trap
Maximum electron (or positron) number in CNT: 1.5 _1014
- Brillouin density limit, nB=_0B2/(2me) is reached when outward centrifugal and electric forces are only barely balanced by v_B force.
- Electron or positron density limit at B=0.1 T is 4.8_1016 m-3
Maximum electron (or positron) energy confined in CNT: ~5 keV
- Quasi-helical stellarators are optimized to give small drift (banana) orbits (on the order of one rL) in order to confine energetic fusion _ís. We want to apply this concept from fusion to antimatter research so we can trap energetic positrons.
- a/rL < 10 for E<5 keV
