Simple circular coil configuration
- CNT is a basic plasma physics experiment - not designed to have great fusion performance. This simplifies the stellarator coil design.
- Large magnetic surfaces are created by two simple circular interlocking coils and two sets of circular poloidal field coils
- Based on original idea from C. Gourdon et al., (1969)
- Currently being developed by W. Reiersen, A. Georgiyevskiy et al.
- Inexpensive, simple, elegant, with excellent access
