- Stellarators break the toroidal symmetry that tokamaks have, in order to provide a rotational transform in the absence of internal currents
- 3-D configuration may have ‘quasi-symmetry’ but CNT does not - however, it has high quality magnetic surfaces, low aspect ratio, and a rotational transform of 0.187.
