Office of the University Chaplain
The Office of the University Chaplain ministers to the individual faiths of Columbia University's diverse community of scholars, students and staff from many different faith traditions while promoting interfaith and intercultural understanding. Toward this goal, the Office of the University Chaplain creates and sponsors programs concerning justice, faith and spirituality.
As Director of the Earl Hall Center, the University Chaplain oversees the work of the Office of the University Chaplain, United Campus Ministries and Community Impact. In addition, the University Chaplain is available for confidential pastoral counseling to individuals, couples and families in the Columbia University community. Jewelnel Davis has served as the University Chaplain since 1996.
Community Impact
Founded in 1987, Community Impact is a non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, shelter, education, job training, and fellowship for residents in the surrounding Harlem, Washington Heights, and Morningside Heights communities. A dedicated corps of faculty, staff, and more than 950 Columbia University student volunteers participate in 25 different community service programs that serve over 16,000 people each year. Community Impact also partners with 100 community organizations.
