Current Research
I am interested in how problems get solved, both in the immediate instance and more broadly over time, as learning develops. In particular, I am interested in the ways in which games represent both a powerful tool and an intuitive metaphor for studying how humans and other organisms confront and work to overcome challenges. With these considerations in mind, I have studied behavioral & functional variability, concurrent optimization, and volition. I also engage in both the molar & molecular modeling of behavior, and am interested in how our models can inspire new insights and research.
