Summer Undergraduate Research Program

The Conte Center offers a Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) for exceptional undergraduate students who wish to participate in cutting edge research in one of the Center’s lines of research (see individual Project pages for information about research). This is a great opportunity for students that are interested in pursuing a career in scientific research, and would like to get familiar with what it feels like to work in a laboratory.

Students work directly with a faculty mentor, participating in research and data analysis. There are weekly seminars where the mentors present their current research in an informal way, encouraging the students to ask questions and participate in discussions. In addition, they have an opportunity to present their results to their fellow students at the end of the period.

The program runs for 8 weeks (June-July), and students receive a stipend (US$3,500) to help offset their expenses. No housing or transportation are currently being offered, so we encourage students to evaluate their housing possibilities before applying. Students should have completed their freshman year, and should have shown interest and aptitude in neuroscience or psychology.

To Apply: Applications are due March 1st , and should include an updated resume and a letter stating why you think you are a good candidate for this program. If accepted, you will need to provide two letters of recommendation. To inquire, contact dias@nki.rfmh.org.
