I would like to invite you to become a sponsor of the ninth annual Columbia University Dance Marathon (CUDM) benefiting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which will take place in on January 31, 2009. CUDM is a student-run event at which over one hundred dancers, who have each raised a minimum of $500 for the foundation, stay on their feet for twenty-eight straight hours to symbolize the fatigue that children with HIV/AIDS experience each day. Over the past eight years, CUDM has become one of the most popular and acclaimed events on campus. Our dancers represent over seventy-five student groups and oranizations, and both the foundation and the university have applauded our eight-year fundraising total of over $400,000.
All of the funds that the CUDM dancers and executive board raise go directly to the Elizabeth Glser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), an inspirational not-for-profit organization with 501(c) status that supports children suffering from pediatric AIDS all over the world. After losing her child Ariel to the virus, Elizabeth Glaser started EGPAF in 1988 to help young HIV/AIDS victims who experience the virus differently than adults. Today, EGPAF's fundraising promotes cutting-edge research and provides medicine and care to children worldwide. All of us at CUDM deeply admire the foundation's significant work. Over the past eight years, we ave strived to provide a healthy, safe, and fun environment for our hard-working dancers in order to keep our contribution to EGPAF. We could not do this without organizations like yours.
