Both Downtown and Harlem face the prospect of urban abandonment,
downsizing and urban reprogramming based on shifting global economic
forces.
The traditional form of the city has been thrown into question
by these processes. Downtown we will try to establish what are the new
conditions of urbanity in a redundant, previously dense area of
Manhattan, where new uses and new programming are urgently required. In
Harlem we examined the arrival of a suburban supermarket typology at
strategic location on 125th Street.
