Perform Preliminary Setup Operations
  1. Set up initial project profile:  create / edit / save
  2. Assemble target object authority list:  load or create / edit / extend / save
  3. Assemble target texts:  load / concatenate / edit / save

Generate Intermediate Processed Text
  1. Perform target object identification:  match / review results / modify parms / rerun / edit results / save
  2. Perform associational context identification:  run external segmenter or section manually / edit results / save
  3. Perform semantic and syntactic analysis: select tool / set parms / process text / review output / edit parms / save
  4. Create / apply stop list(s) / filters:  load or create / edit / assign rules / filter / save
  5. Store intermediate processed text instance for further actions:  edit / save

Prepare External Subject Lists / Create Rules (Training Profile)
  1. Assemble subject heading lists:
    • Process back-of-book indexes: concatenate / dedupe / edit / save
    • Import external subject list: load / process / edit / save
    • Create new subject list: input / edit / save
    • Use AAT / ULAN / TGN: select tree / set parms / load / save
    • Combine subject heading lists:  select / process / dedupe / edit / save

  2. Specify generation rules / create 'training' profile
    • Select pre-processed text file
    • Select pre-processed subject heading list
    • Select saved stop list
    • Select threshold, confidence and relevance parameters
    • Select desired metadata output types
    • Correlate metadata output types and threshholds with target metadata element types
    • Save profile

Create & Review Output; Document Process
  1. Generate metdata output

  2. Review metadata results:
    • browse
    • review in context of associational segments
    • review in context of subject heading list
    • review in context of stop list
    • review in context of semantic
    • syntactic analysis
    • review in context of target object authority list
    • save

  3. Export results: specify export format / specify export format target elements / save
  4. Document decisions:  describe project objectives, assumptions & reasons for specific choices / save to project profile
