Digitization
Project Proposal Procedures
- The first point of contact for
proposed digitization projects
is normally the Digital Projects
Librarian (DPL), Robbie Blitz (rlb179@columbia.edu) For
preservation-related projects
that involve digitization, the
first point of contact may be
the Preservation and Digital Conversion
Division Director, Janet
Gertz (gertz@columbia.edu).
- The Digital Projects Librarian (or Preservation Division director) works
with project proposer to complete
the Digitization Project Proposal
form (doc / pdf)
- The director of the relevant curatorial division approves the proposal and assigns it a divisional priority
- The Digital Projects Librarian coordinates further review of the Project Profile
with the units listed below.
Note that these reviews are dependent
upon the nature of the project
and not all projects will need
review by all four units.
- Copyright Advisory Office
- Preservation & Digital Conversion Division
- Bibliographic Services and Collection Development Group / Metadata Coordinator
- Libraries Digital Program Division
- The Digital Projects Librarian and project proposer meet
with review committee (Janet Gertz,
Stephen Davis, Rob Cartolano,
Bob Wolven, Damon Jaggars). If
the project is approved, a CUL priority
and tentative timetable are assigned.
