Subject: Columbia kick-off meeting
Date: Tue, 3 Jun 2003 11:40:55 -0700
Good afternoon all,
Thank you for attending the kick-off meeting this
morning. We are all very excited to begin work on
your project and are eager to address the challenges
of the MedRen collection.
As Stephen identified at the end of our call, the
items Columbia will provide to Luna are as follows:
1) data (approx 1400 records - possibly via ftp site
or web download) and any necessary data description
information. Information regarding availability/retrieval
of data (ftp or web site) can be sent to me.
2) images (approx 4900 images - PCD copies). Please
let me know when PCDs will be ready for shipping and
send to the address below.
3) search scenarios which involve multi-level hierarchy
for testing and use in development
4) collection description as mentioned in Implementation
Questionnaire 5.0.3: indicated as "To come [Consuelo
Dutschke will supply]"
5) starting point for generic Columbia background
for cross collection searching (typography, image
if necessary). For the MedRen collection, we will
be utilizing the existing background (jpeg attached);
however, currently the background contains the collection
name "The Digital Scriptorium". Please provide
new collection name if required.
6) Luna will utilize a generic "no image available"
placeholder image for those records with no associated
image unless Columbia would like to deliver a specific
graphic for this purpose. In the questionnaire you
mention that the linking value between the catalog
record and the image file will be provided, please
specify how data records with no image link will be
identified.
Immediate tasks for Luna (will be provided before the
end of the week):
1) summary of the existing preferences/display/search/sort
options for the DS collection currently in Insight
for review & enhancement
2) rough draft timeline for implementation which will
is dependent on delivery of materials and availability
of Columbia staff to provide feedback and information
when necessary. (Columbia indicated ideal timeframe
for install and training mid-August)
Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns
that were not addressed at this morning's meeting.
I will be out the office June 9-13th and will provide
contact information in my absence.
Thank you for your time,
Gina
