down the porno shops, and generally there's nothing they can really do, because if it were hard-core pornography, then you go into court and you can do something about it. But if it's just salacious and doesn't meet the hard-core standards, the city is really at a loss to do anything. And I think there should be/changes in the law, which we could talk about. But anyway Abend domes on very strong: “Pornography! It does this and it does that,” really tough and puritanical. And then me. And you have to understand, each of us has a minute 15 seconds to talk. My opening line (this was a classic) was exactly this way: “Pornography, it ain't all bad.” (laughs)

Just to continue with my Abend stories. The Abend debates are always on prostitution and gun control and crime with Abend always saying that we treat people too decently in various areas, whereas gun control is arming the criminals and taking guns away from the decent people. There may be six issues and you debate them over and over again ad nauseum. But it's okay. It's the best publicity I have ever had in my seven years of active political life here in the Congress. I walk down the street, and it's amazing how many people will stop me, and it will be because they've seen
