“Is this what I bought? I'm paying rent for an apartment that I can afford to have, and you've got these welfare families with their problems and with the problems that kids have [no question about it, wrecking the elevators and pissing in the elevators and putting graffiti on the building] -- is this why I want to live in this building that I pay $640 a month rent for?” So they're going to move out. It is insanity, as to what we are doing.

Q:

Okay, let's get Eleanor Holmes Norton a little better identified. She's got this human relations post and still has that. What is that -- commissioner?

Koch:

Commissioner.

Q:

Okay. You quoted Mario Procaccino referring to limousine liberals, and you've used the term exotic liberals, and you also made reference -- I don't think you used the word hypocrisy, but they cake inconsistent positions.

Koch:

I said hypocritic, yes.

Q:

You find this quite pervasive among the affluent liberals in your district.
