Was he fearful of interference?

Lasker:

Yes, I think he was, I think he was.

Florence and I left the Z Triangle Ranch about the middle of April, and she flew to Washing ton and I went to New York. The hearings were considered successful and well done before the House by Colonel Quinn and Florence and there was some discussion about the wisdom of showing films, which Dr. Heath had brought, on his new research in schizophrenia, but all felt that the House Committee had been impressed.

Fogarty was helpful in asking strategic questions of the witnesses and bringing out vital points. He was now minority member of the Committee.

Q:

You were not involved in testimony?

Lasker:

No, I never testified. I found that they were more interested in hearing doctors.

In May it seemed about time for me to visit Fogarty and Busby in Washington before the House Committee marked up the Appropriations figures for fiscal '54. So I went to Washington and took Jessie Marmorstun with me for her first visit, to
