been Secretary of State.

Q:

Did they give any reason?

Lasker:

I don't recall, but I think they were just not interested in the subject.

This Committee has been very useful in the course of this last 11 years we have gone from 10 million five to about 140 million for training and research in the National Mental Health Institute and President Kennedy has given an additional increase for the Mental Health Institute in this oncoming fiscal '64 budget. (Jane, please put in the figure.) The House cut it a little, but it may pass in full, and it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 190 million dollars. Now, this is quite a change isn't it?

Q:

Mrs. Lasker, in the press some weeks ago there was an article about Dr. Felix and his attitude toward research and so forth in connection with mental health.

Lasker:

Do you know Dr. Felix?

Q:

Yes. Would you want to comment on that?

Lasker:

Do you know him well?

Q:

Fairly well. I did at one point.
