is a blind spot, that if I had maybe talked to him more about it I would have gotten him over, but he basically never liked to come out in front about anything he was doing and he was used to always being the agent of other people in business and doing whatever he wanted in total silence himself, with his own money. And if I had called them some other kind of awards, he might have taken an interest in them.
And yet it is all a part of the grand pattern that you have developed.
Yes, it was part of a pattern, a way to find out who was making outstanding contributions in the field of health and research, and to do honor to them, as I felt that they didn't get enough honor. And also I found, as time went on, that it was an extremely good way of being informed about who the outstanding workers were and to keep book on what the progress was that we were helping to finance in various ways.

Yes, but he was really only interested when there was some major payoff, when some major thing was accomplished.
