and they saw what it was all about, they became more enthusiastic than they were before.

Q:

Yes, it serves to generate enthusasm.

Lasker:

Yes, so I think of doing it for one more year at least, and then we'll see what happens, maybe go back to one award for --

Q:

You said in July you were planning to go to the Johnson ranch in the fall.

Lasker:

I did go, yes, and I talked to the President about various things. I really ought to try to recall my conversations with him.

Q:

I think you should.

Lasker:

But I'd have to sit down and write a few notes before I could do that. I'll have to do something about that.

Q:

Perhaps at the same time you'd comment on going to Washington for the funeral.

Lasker:

Oh yes. Well, the funeral was almost uplifting because it was on such a kind of positive note. They services were so, well, really spirited and moving, but not saddening, you know, in a kind of wonderful way -- did you see it on television?

Q:

Yes, I saw a great deal of it on television. She seemed to set a keynote to the whole thing.

Lasker:

Yes.
