Q:

She seemed to radiate a certain amount of joy over a life that was complete and so forth.

Lasker:

Yes. She's been wonderful since. But I didn't feel that at all. I feel that this was a failure of our knowledge and maybe a failure of the doctors. I spent some time with a group of friends the night before the funeral at Blair House.

Q:

Is that where she stayed?

Lasker:

Yes, and the Kume and Clark Clifford and Liz Carpenter, they were all there and Tommy Corcoran, and I sent to the church and sat next to forever Chief Justice and Mrs. Warren, and next to Dean Rusk, in the midst of that terrific layer of television lights. I was the only person with dark glasseon. Unbelievable. morever Watson was very touching and sincered in his feelings and I though it was wonderful to have --

-- she gave it some sort of inspirational lift too.

Lasker:

Yes. Well, I think that she is a wonderful person and that she did, she did --

-- meant Leontyne Price by singing, gave it --

Lasker:

-- yes, she did. I think she did. I think both of them did, Mrs. Johnson and Leontyne Price. But I feel terribly because I feel that he didn't get the benefits of the research that he helped to support. I got him to go see Mike DEBakey, but Mike DeBakey sent him a report
