Part:         Session:         Page of 999

This is a deficiency of mine. I enjoyed the Braniff board meetings in Dallas and Houston, and seeing the Braniff jet painted by /Calder arrive in New York, which was really a very gay sight.

Q:

Do you have any particular job on that board?

Lasker:

No. Well, I'm on one subcommittee, on social services of the -- I have -- the subcommittee hasn't met, so the answer is, No. I go and enjoy it. And it's interesting to me, because I'm interested in business and enterprise and these people are very enterprising. I gave a dinner and theatre party for Mrs. Johnson, in April, April 19, which was very gay. We came a little bit late but the show had not started, did not start because they evidently knew that she was coming, and she received a great ovation from the audience. Isn't that interesting? Wonderful, it's wonderful.

Mrs. Vincent Astor gave a lovely party for Mrs. Johnson on the 20th of June, at her place in the country, a marvelous summer evening, everybody beautifully dressed, lovely lighting, very pale clothes.

Q:

Where is she, out on Long Island?

Lasker:

No, she lives up the river near Pocantico Hills. And I had Mrs. Johnson and Mrs, Steves and Mr, and Mrs. Castro and Mr. Steves for a weekend party at my farm on October 20th. It was one of those wonderful red and yellow weekends, a marvelous fall day, and that night we saw a movie called -- you know that great French movie --

Q:

Les Miserables?
