Lasker:

Yes, I'd be very thrilled.

Q:

It's very noticeable.

Lasker:

That's marvelous. Certain states have been much better; the deaths from strokes have declined much more in some states than others. I've got the breakdown of deaths by strokes by states.

Q:

Tell me more about the program as it has been working. I mean the educational espects.

Lasker:

I introduced Dr. Cooper, the Assistant Secretary of HEW, to the people at the Ad Council, which is the group of advertising agencies that were banded together and which gives time on the air on a voluntary basis. They solicit from the networks, and they give their time free, and you only pay for the film and the place and the equipment and the photography. They planned a big campaign, which just started about six months ago. It's a time bomb on the chest of a man. Have you seen any of those TV spots?

Q:

Yes.

Lasker:

Well, did you think they were effective, I hope?

Q:

I do, and I think this is bound to make the general populace aware of health problems.
