Q:

Do they share their results?

Lasker:

They do when they're published, yes.

Q:

And you had them on the same platform?

Lasker:

We had them on the same platform. The New York Times inadvertently dropped two and a half lines about Dr. Schally's contributions and it caused an explosion on the part of Dr. Schally. He was not going to stay for the presentation of the award and I don't know what all. He has paranoia. But that really was very annoying.

Q:

Is he an American, by the way?

Lasker:

I don't think he's an American. He may be a citizen.

Q:

Is he a Frenchman?

Lasker:

I don't know. It's very possible.

Then we also gave an award for the development of the drugs by a group of men at Merck led by Dr. Beyer. The drugs are the drugs that are the mainstay for the treatment of high blood pressure and have made the treatment of hypertension feasible, certainly easier.
