any effort in Europe, but they're making an effort with a few hundred thousand dollars. No big money. I mean, it's very small compared to the Cancer Society.

Q:

Did he happen to be in New York?

Lasker:

He happened to be in New York and he wanted me to be a member of a --

Q:

And you got up out of your sick bed?

Lasker:

I got up out of my bed and saw him, and I was encouraged --

Q:

This was encouraging too in terms of exchange of information, was it not, between the British and us?

Lasker:

Yes. I then did go to Washington, although I felt really quite sick, to a meeting on the Immunotherapy of Cancer and the Present Status of Trials in Man on October 27th. Oh, wait a minute, I didn't go. No, I didn't go. There was such a meeting, which I missed oh October 27th, and Mrs. Blair gave a dinner for the doctors.

Q:

Now, under whose aegis was that conference --?

Lasker:

This was paid for by the National Cancer Institute. But on November 21st and 23rd, I did go to the International Breast Cancer Task Force meeting.

Q:

That, again, was in Washington?

Lasker:

In Washington, with Dr. Veronesi of milan, Dr. Tagnon, Dr. O'Connor, Dr. Bonadonna, Dr. Carbone, Dr. Gullino, Lord Geoffrey-Lloyd.
