Lasker:

I did it because Flood, the Chairman of the Sub-Committee on the House side on appropriations, asked me to do it. Naturally, I'll do anything for anybody on any Appropriations Sub-Committee, that has to do with Health, Education and Welfare. And it was really an expensive thing to do, because I had to give him a contribution which I never otherwise would have done. And the party was expensive.

Q:

You're limited in the amount you can give, are you not?

Lasker:

Yes, we were limited, but still if you do it for twenty- five people and there are some that you're not very interested in, it's not very rewarding.

Q:

Yes. How much can yougive to an individual now?

Lasker:

A thousand dollars.

Q:

Just a thousand?

Lasker:

Yes. As to the Inauguration --

Q:

You skipped over the meeting with Moynihan.

Lasker:

I didn't have it.

Q:

Oh, you didn't have it because you were ill? What was the purpose of it?

Lasker:

To get my support.

Q:

You were not supporting Bella [Bella Abzug]?

Lasker:

I supported Bella originally, but when he won in the primary,
