Q:

Yes, indeed. Just one more thing about your collection of paintings, the ones you still have. You've never had one of Mary Cassatt's, have you?

Lasker:

No.

Q:

Why? Do you not admire her?

Lasker:

Yes, I like her, but she really didn't fit into a French collection, and I didn't have any nineteenth century Americans.

Q:

And yet she was more French than anything else.

Lasker:

That's right.
