But the reception was -- and at least five thousand people attended. I think probably every political figure that the President of France could possibly be indebted to was present, with his wife!

Q:

Were there many Americans?

Lasker:

Well, I would have thought there were twenty or thirty. Maybe not that many. Maybe fifteen Americans. Not many. Maybe twenty. Wasn't a large number.

We had supper beforehand at Mr. Van der Kemp's apartment for some people who had made gifts to Versailles, and that was charming.

Well, this is just a good outline.

Q:

Well, that's all it was intended to be.

Lasker:

Yes. But I don't think it's anything to make comment on. I went to a, really a --

Q:

The thing for Vogue (Magazine). Was this a special article in Vogue, or what?

Lasker:

Yes, it's an article. I expected it to be just some photographs of my apartment, which they wanted to take, but then it occurred to Mrs. Cahan that she wanted an article to go with it, and Charlotte Curtis of the Times did the article.

Q:

Did she do a good one?
