Q:

It certainly did. And some of our lives were saved as a result of it.

Lasker:

I should say. A great many.

Q:

Well, tell me about the other witnesses before the Pepper hearings. You talked about the three who appeared for interferon, but there were others.

Lasker:

Yes. Well, there was Dr. Emil Freirich, Dr. Emil Frei, Dr. Allan Goldstein, who appeared for thymosin, Dr. McKneally, who appeared for BCG in lung operations, the use of BCG in lung operations; Dr. Thomas Stewart of Ottawa, who appeared for a new vaccine for people that have lung cancer.

Now these are very important developments which may turn out to be very useful.

Q:

Did you attend all those hearings?

Lasker:

Oh, sure. And Dr. James F. Holland appeared for breast cancer. I did feel that some of the testimony wasn't as precise as it should have been. Doctors should say exactly how many patients they've had, for how long; how many have recurred, or if they haven't recurred, how long have they been free of disease; what's the percentage of five years cures.
