Lasker:

Yes, she has.

Q:

That brings up the subject of beautification. Was there anything in that area that you were involved in?

Lasker:

In what?

Q:

Beautification.

Lasker:

Oh well, I did plant a -- cherry trees, I guess from about 70th to I think 86th St. on First Avenue this year.

Q:

On First Avenue?

Lasker:

Yes. And she and I, at least I intend to plant Calery and Bartlett Pears, trees, on Second Avenue and maybe on Third Avenue this fall. Between let's say 50th to 72nd.

Q:

This is along the sidewalk?

Lasker:

On the sidewalks, yes, because I think that the trees in the city that have now been planted for a few years are making the city look much prettier, on the East Side. Don't you?

Q:

Oh yes indeed.

Lasker:

Don't you notice it?

Q:

Are pears hardy enough to plant?
