Part:         Session:         Page of 999

Lasker:

Did I tell you about the snow?

Q:

No, but that's where Lyndon Johnson met Brezhnev, you know, down in Glassboro.

Lasker:

Oh that's right. Well, this was in a hugh stable. The reception was in a huge stable for 100 horses or something like that, and there was a taproom, and there was a big reception there -- huge -- and then there was a big dinner in a huge house, a big dinner dance, and I sat next to the president of General Electric, Mr. Jones. He was in despair because he lives out in Conn, and it was a good three hours away, and the dinner was still going at a quarter of 12.

Q:

(laughing): How did you get back?

Lasker:

I had my car, and I was never so happy to get home in my life. But it was a very splendid party.

In the meantime poor Senator Williams has gotten involved in ABSCAM, which I hate, because he is such a good Senator.

Q:

That involvement came out later.

Lasker:

Oh yes, it was all later. I don't know how to help him out of that.
