Lasker:

They have received pure interferon from Roche in order to see if they can avert colds or flu by cloned immune if spray. Merigan has shown This at stanford.

Q:

But you were going to try to see if you could the groups together.

Lasker:

No, it was impossible. There are such jealousies between institutions that it would be like getting NYU and Columbia together. You would never do it. (laughs)

Q:

And now you said last year that Schering and Hoffman-LaRoche thought they could begin clinical trials in 12 months.

Lasker:

Yes, and they've how done it. I mean not Schering but Roche started. They gave out pure leucocyte interferon about the first -- between the first of February and the first of March for Phase I trials, and they made their schedule. But Schering felt that they had been beaten, and they were going to go for immune if. They are still involved. I have not talked to anyone these recently.

Q:

Well, what about these clinical trials? Have you had any word on them?
