Q:

And it's a good investment, isn't it?

Lasker:

Yes!

Q:

Do you know anything more about the efforts of the Japanese doctor?

Lasker:

Itakura?

Q:

Of the City of Hope.

Lasker:

I tried to see him in California and somehow or other I didn't see him this winter. He's not a clinician. But he was the first person to clone anything -- somatostatin. So he showed a way of getting at it practically, that you could do it.

Q:

He was a pioneer then.

Lasker:

He was a pioneer, yes.

Q:

You mentioned a little bit earlier the fact that there were some reports from the Japanese. Do we know more about what they are doing?

Lasker:

Well, we know that the Japanese confirmed the work of Gallo and that they're extremely interested in the vaccine naturally.
