Q:

(laughs) I don't know. I'd have to. . .

Lasker:

Well, it's about. . . over. . .

Q:

$15 billion.

Lasker:

$15 billion, yes, And none of them could have raised $15 billion for them alone possibly. It's impossible to do anything like that. And I said to one of them: “How would you like it if you had to raise the money that you now get for your overhead and we didn't have any money from the National Institutes of Health?” He said, “Oh, my God;” But the organization was against any more institutes of health. That's how they've gotten this money. They never knew what hand was feeding them.

Q:

Why not?

Lasker:

Because they're so dumb.

Q:

Well, they're not dumb in terms of research and that sort of thing.

Lasker:

They can do research, but they can't figure out numbers like that of dollars. That's frightening.

Q:

Maybe they lack common sense, too. So at least a few balls
