Q:

Well, now, Roswell Park has all of the facilities. . .

Lasker:

There's a man there who saw the possibilities and didn't mind doing the work to get it together. His name is Timothy O'Connor He's on our jury.

Q:

Well, he really is going to be working overtime.

Lasker:

That's right, yes. But he doesn't mind that.

Q:

Well, all that sounds utterly fascinating, and I certainly hope that you'll give me an update on it.

Lasker:

I certainly will.

Q:

Now, almost immediately thereafter -- at least I get that idea from Mrs. Brewer's outline -- you're going to attend a workshop on oncogenes. Now, tell me about oncogenes, because you've not talked about them before.

Lasker:

Well, that's the gene that represents cancer in the human blood cell. And to do a vaccine that's successful it has to deal with genes that represent cancer.

Q:

And that's going to be attended by a large group of. . .

Lasker:

Forty-five people, yes. Well, sometimes nothing is settled
